
With twice the entertainment for 2011, the daylong musical festival is free and open to the public, featuring marching bands, a festival expo, food, performance stages, carnival booths, kids’ fun zone, a first annual dog competition and more.
In its second year, the Parade Band Review and Festival returns to Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista for a day of live music and family fun on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Produced by the Parade Band Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization, the event is free and open to the public and offers something for everyone. As one of the key events celebrating the best of Chula Vista during the city’s Centennial year of 2011, the Parade Band Review doubled in size from 2010 and will feature 20 marching bands from the Southern California region. The marching bands will be complemented by the enthusiasm of cheerleading, dance groups, and many more parade participants as Otay Ranch Town Center comes alive with music and pageantry.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2011) – Students from Chula Vista Middle School’s choir will perform live with multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated recording artists P.O.D. at the City of Chula Vista’s 100th birthday celebration on the grounds of the scenic U.S. Olympic Training Center, Chula Vista this Saturday, October 15. The all-day festival is free and open to the public.
Following a grand fireworks show that will light up the night sky, P.O.D. will take the stage at approximately 8:15 p.m. and plan to ignite the citywide celebration with explosive hits like Alive, Boom and the song that willshowcase Chula Vista’s choir, Youth of A Nation.
“The kids are very excited to receive this opportunity to perform with such a successful band and one that means so much to this community,” said choir director Tony Atienza. “Imagine being part of a full-fledged rock concert by the age of 11 or 12 – what a thrill.”

The City of Chula Vista is throwing a party for its 100th birthday on October 15. The daylong event will rock with multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated recording artists P.O.D. The band of local icons will headline the free music festival that is part of Chula Vista’s party of the century, held on the fields of the scenic U.S. Olympic Training Center, Chula Vista. With this announcement, event organizers have extended the headline concert time to run from 8:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to accommodate the band’s entire performance.
Following a grand fireworks show that will light up the night sky, Chula Vista’s pride of rock n’ roll will take the stage at approximately 8:15 p.m. and plan to ignite the citywide celebration with explosive hits like Alive, Boom and Youth of A Nation.
Each with strong roots in San Diego, CA, lead singer Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel and drummer Wuv Bernardo, along with bassist and Cleveland native Traa Daniels are proud to bring the band home for a captivating performance in one of Chula Vista’s most scenic venues.
Known as a hard working band, P.O.D.’s performances are electrifying, blending reggae grooves, Latin beats, hip-hop and powerful rock chords that send a universal message through their music.
P.O.D. just finished the Rock Allegiance Tour this summer and is now back in the studio with Grammy nominated music producer Howard Benson (Credits include: 3 Doors Down, Creed, Daughtry & Kelly Clarkson).

The stage is set for the city of Chula Vista’s 100th birthday. The public is invited to the official Chula Vista Centennial Celebration at the scenic U.S. Olympic Training Center (OTC) on Saturday, October 15 from noon to 9:30 p.m. Gate admission is free.
