To plug into the latest centennial news and calendar events, people are encouraged to visit the official Chula Vista Centennial website at www.chulavista100.com. Designed by Chula Vista-born web designer Israel Farrer, the website offers access to the Centennial Facebook page, news feeds and an online store where the centennial book is now available for advanced purchase.
Written by acclaimed historian and retired University of San Diego history professor Steven Schoenherr, the coffee-table style photo and history book, titled Chula Vista Centennial: A Century of People and Progress, will illustrate the hundred-year history of Chula Vista from a small town that started as the Lemon Capital of the World and grew into the seventh fastest growing city in the United States.
To help support centennial-related events and projects, sponsorship opportunities are available to businesses large and small. Interested parties may contact Mary Marcdante, centennial manager, at (619) 585-5682 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
All activities are organized by the Centennial's Committee of 100 volunteers in partnership with community businesses, educational groups, and non-profit organizations and will continue through 2011.
